I can't say don't try it but you honestly sound like you are looking for exactly what this game left behind. I had 650 hrs and played only on a clan server when members were there(best game play scenario IMO). I have learned I have the power to avoid frustration rather than getting frustrated at blaming/yelling, childish behavior, and lack of teamwork. but once the newness wears off after a few hundred hours, what it could be if played appropriately becomes evident and frustration sets in from then on.įull disclosure: I no longer play this game and I also haven't trashed the game like so many. Every role matters but many players just want to shoot - not strategize. IMO, anything done outside the intended original HLL game play makes it similar to Team Death Match on COD. The game becomes a "run up with no command or other SL info, be killed, rinse, repeat." type thing. Then you are part of the problem with this game and it cannot be played as intended. In addition, without an SL, you will not have outposts on which to spawn. Many servers require an SL so jumping into another role may not work. What this guy in the video says is far from what the average experience is in HLL. I played a little bit of ARMA back in the day but never got into multiplayer, I didn’t like it very much. Watching the video posted above I like how HLL handles its mechanics a lot better than Squad. I mostly liked doing those roles because no one else would and there was less screaming lmao. It was my go to game some years ago there was nothing more relaxing than flying chopper and transporting troops after the work week. You wont need to have any sort of structure for areas you control and stable transport routes.Īrma 3 is the game you are looking for if you want to fly or transport people and equipment or play as dedicated arty. You build all nodes if you want in the start of the game and that is it. HLL dosent have resemblance to this mechanics in serious manner, they are just slapped to side of the game as after thought. Screaming at players is like herding cats. What I typically got were children barking like they were in the military. I first watched Karmakut and thought WOW this is exactly what I’d like to have. Driving logi, or manning a mortar team or driving a tank were some of my best times because I had a good team but it’s been rare for me. I’ve had really good games but a lot of the time it’s borderline boredom or crushing frustration. My own experiences in Squad differ from yours significantly.īut given the issues you've stated regarding certain mechanics like the class system, then I'd recommend avoiding HLL as it has a class system of its own. I hate the class squad system in squad and prefer the battlefield style, play what you want. Slow is fine if it’s smooth… squad is hardly ever smooth. One of the downsides of squad to me is how unbearably slow it can be.
